Univ of Kentucky tries a new marketing effort

Heard of Facebook Places? It’s kind of like Foursquare and Facebook had a baby. Anyway, if you’ve heard of it, you’ve probably also heard all the bad press about it. But, University of Kentucky is trying it out this year. They’ve made life-size replicas of the blue location markers found in Facebook and planted them […]

Drake cancels Twitterview on D+ marketing campaign

Drake and Stamats were going to hold a Twitterview today about the recent “D+” marketing campaign. However, as the magic hour was upon us, this tweet came through: “Alas, due to circumstances beyond our control, we canceled the Twitter interview with @DrakeUniversity and @Stamats. #drakeu”. Cowards! C’mon! I was really looking forward to hearing the […]

Keep learning!

I saw a Tweet today from @CrudBasher – “Learning has to be lifelong. When lifespan was 45, K-12+4 made sense. Now lifespan is 80+. Have 2 keep learning.” So true. Uh, no. You get D+. As in, basically failing. Is that really the message you want to send prospective students? Apparantly, […]

Why does that make me just a little bit sad? I haven’t had a printed dictionary in…10 years, I think…at least. I always just use dictionary.com like a normal person. Still, knowing that there won’t be a printed version of the Oxford English Dictionary is kind of sad.

Tenure get more tenuous

What’s that sound? Oh, I think it’s the sound of another nail being driven into Tenure’s coffin. The University of Louisiana will vote today to change its tenure regulations – making it easier to dismiss tenured professors. Because state funding has been cut by 17% since the 2008 fiscal year, budgets are tighter than ever. And, […]

Nerdy word stuff (which I love)

As kids across the nation go back to school, maybe we all could use a little educational refresher. Check out this list of 24 Things You Might Be Saying Wrong. I’m not even going to admit how many things I learned.
