Drummond St. proudly presents our First Annual “Top Songs of the Year List”. These are the songs that inspired us, made us laugh, made us cry (probably from laughing so hard), and allowed for some good, old fashioned, quality bonding through music. Please enjoy our 2014 offerings.
“Slow Down” by Selena Gomez. She actually finds a way to rhyme the phrase “mouth to mouth resuscitation”. Come on. You don’t hear that often.
“California Love” by 2pac.
Because it now plays on the ‘Backspin” station and it came out after our Principal graduated from college. Ouch, buddy.
“BO$$” by Fifth Harmony.
The songwriting is so unimaginative, repetitive and uncreative that it physically upsets our copywriters.
Or, as our VP of Content Strategy puts it, “That writing makes my soul hurt.”
“Chandelier” by Sia.
Because it’s the most upbeat song that Marnie can handle. Plus, the guy who lost a fantasy football bet and had to recreate the video himself. Genius.
“It’s All Over But the Crying” by Garbage.
Garbage may be the only band we can all agree we like, albeit somewhat reluctantly, and if only for this song that James admits to one time listening to on repeat, for about an hour, then getting over it.
“Unrepentant Geraldines” by Tori Amos.
On a mission to convince the team that Tori Amos is the best, Marnie pulled out this song to appeal to the tastes of the masses and illustrate Tori’s ability to be fast and catchy. She’s still working on her case.
“Bye, Felicia” by Zeke Thomas.
Because, if you have to ask why, you’re probably the reason this song made the list.
“Take me to Church” by Hozier.
To kick off the opening of our Midwest office, we (in true Drummond St. style) had an impromptu dance party. This song was on repeat and inspired some pretty spectacular moves.
The theme song to “Selfie”
We’d love to attribute this to its association with the social media aspect of our business, but in reality it is a (terrible) guilty pleasure of one member of our team which another member of the team loves to mock.
“Fancy” by Iggy Azalea.
Besides being a top song of 2014, this reminded some of us (who shall remain nameless) that they are out of touch while reminding others (who will also remain nameless) that they are old enough to remember the movie upon which this video is based.
