President Obama wants five million more people to graduate over the next decade with Associate’s degrees. This week, Community Colleges are meeting to figure out exactly how that can be done.
At the American Association of Community Colleges’ annual meeting being held this week in Seattle, many of the sessions (not surprisingly) are focusing on implementing strategies to help students succeed academically. Another popular, albeit unfortunate, topic is how to do that after the bill was signed giving Community Colleges only a fraction of the aid money they were promised.
Rather than the $12-billion over 10 years that Mr. Obama had sought to improve programs, courses, and facilities at community colleges, the
final student-loan legislation had only $2-billion for job training.
So basically, the President is demanding that Community Colleges deliver 100% more graduates than usual with only 12.5% more support.
Figure out how THAT math works and you deserve to be granted an honorary degree.
