Social Media helps college Presidents

Share

This article on how college President’s are using social media to help meet their school’s objectives is a great read. But kind of a long read, so let me give you the important bits and how you can learn from them.

Do as the President’s Do

Successful college President’s are using social media for the exact purpose it was intended – to be social. No one has time to meet in-person, or even email, every member of their organization or sphere of influence. Enter social media. By tweeting and retweeting, you can spread your message quickly and easily to a far wider audience than you could if you tried to do everything in-person.

On the other side, social media allows you to quickly and easily learn what your colleagues – and competitors – are up to. Follow important figures in your industry or community and you can stay up-to-date on all the latest happenings without have to attend conference or be on endless phone calls.

Finally, social media allows you to be involved in advocacy. Have a cause that you care about? Interested in learning more about new zoning laws that could affect your company’s building?  Don’t spend hours at a town hall meeting. Follow Twitter accounts of local and national politicians and other influential decision-makers to see all the current information.
