NYU gets real with the costs of college

Good for NYU. They’re getting real. NYU – and their hefty price tag – has been in the news lately, and not in a good way. Now, Randall C. Deike, the university’s vice president for enrollment management, is honestly addressing the issue. Basically:
A) NYU is not for everyone.
B) NYU is expensive. You have to understand that.
C) Not getting into your first-choice school isn’t the end of the world.

I say, good for them. It’s one thing to nurture the dreams of prospective students but it’s quite another to be dishonest with them. NYU knows that drowning students in debt isn’t the right thing to do, so they are analyzing and changing the way they get that message across to students.

That’s positive change that hopefully can set an example for other institutions.
